Our first farm
In 1998 our family came from China to Australia with little. We rented a tin shed in Vineyard, learned the soil and the seasons, and grew what we could in our backyard. Most weeks started before midnight as we picked, packed, and drove to Flemington Markets before sunrise. Every dollar went back into seed and tools.
By 2009 we had saved enough for a bigger farm in the Hawkesbury. We grew row by row, added irrigation, and balanced soil crops with hydroponics to supply all year. For years our stall at Flemington served people who cared about fresh, local food.
Then COVID hit. Foot traffic dried up and orders slowed. We leaned toward wholesale to keep our family and team afloat.
FarmerMates is how we return to everyday Aussies with fresh, fairly priced produce.
FRESHER. FAIRER. LOCAL.
HOW WE GROW & SOURCE
Two farms, 50+ acres
We operate two farms totalling over fifty acres. When demand exceeds our harvest, we top up from growers we know and trust.
Soil + hydroponic
We grow in soil and hydroponics, so there’s fresh produce across the year and smoother volumes through harsher seasons.
Short cold-chain
Picked to spec, cooled fast, and shipped quickly to keep flavour and shelf life up.
